a stone in a cloud, silence in hell

"fall asleep with the house on fire..."

a stone in a cloud, silence in hell

fall asleep with the house on fire or
wake up with your mother's boyfriend
closing your bedroom door behind him
and we are never enough for
one another

blue sky and soft white clouds and
still the present can only ever be
a reminder that there had
to be a past

the simple fact that you will have
to close your eyes at some point

that you will have to turn your back

that whoever breaks you
as a child
will own you for the rest of your life
