Navigate

"...a place to hibernate, to regenerate..."

Navigate

what is darkness?
is it pain washing over us at times of loss
or could it be something else
a place to mend --
to roost

a cave with a large entrance
and good airflow
a place to hibernate
to regenerate

and maybe it's not black
but more sapphire mixed with forest green
maybe the air smells of bracken ferns

you sit cross-legged on the floor
wondering if you 'll ever get better
if anything will ever be right again

and out of the corner of your eye
you see a scrap of brave
it tickles and moves to nestle in

underneath your toes you feel something
maybe an old tree root

just like the bats
you will learn how to navigate without crashing
you start to move your body

echoes from the world outside
will nag you
curiosity restores us
under its cloak of --
dark isn't just one color

it's time you find yourself a good publisher. your poetry needs to be seen by more people. this is outstanding.
