Pain Awake

"...When the city sleeps..."

Pain Awake

When hearts break and brains choke
Then cries, sighs and pain awake.
When life gives another stroke
Then the soul dies in false hope.
When people, as usual, try to poke
Then be calm and not provoke.
When you try something to unyoke
Then give less importance to folk.
When winds drive away, my boat
Then rains shower and I soak.
When the city sleeps and I break
Then all my sentiments evoke.
When dawn comes to invoke
Then I forget things to note
