Veer

In 1984, Robert L. Penick ran a half-marathon in ninety minutes flat; it's all been downhill from there. His website is: http://www.theartofmercy.net

Veer

Life's rich promenade
down this side street
circles the same block
again and again.
It's a nice view,
the walk paved with
good fortune, mixed blessings.
You are not old and
you'll never be hungry.
The electricity stays on.

So what, right?

The scenery grates
just as much as
the lack of destination.
Time to veer
from this worn path,
stop with the endless
left turns.
