Home Sweet Home

"...history retells the shameful comedy of incompetence and greed..."

Home Sweet Home

America, America, our America, devious and in denial
the land of profits, prisons, and privation
billionaires and international assassinations
and corporate opiate drug corporations
that kill more than the cartels
where jails, prisons, and nursing homes are all
assisted death facilities that bear the brunt of the pandemic
with the collusion of local, state, and federal authorities
Where the unemployed are evicted, criminalized and
fed to the death machines, and history retells the shameful
comedy of incompetence and greed as a heroic success
that could only happen in America in our America,
dying, divided, and duplicitous to the bitter end

This piece is searing through my spirit because I've been living in a parallel world for so long hoping that my worlds would collide in love and peace. I still hope that those you describe will wake up, but I really want them to wake up by experiencing the pain they've caused so that the impact will sear through them and changes will be swift.
