We Never Leave, Only Return

Aleathia Drehmer is a lover of life who looks to find the small things in the world that people often pass by unnoticed. She is always writing poetry and is currently working on two novels.

We Never Leave, Only Return

with the heart of darkness.

Centuries of dust plume upward,
fire a metronome, bare feet pounding,

the smell of sweat and genetics,
burning into the ether.

The stars reclaim
everything.
