Pitch-Black Darkness

"...Death says nothing at the door...."

Pitch-Black Darkness

Pitch-black darkness,
welcome home.
The stone covers
the exits
and the entrances.

Death says nothing
at the door.
Its bony hand
and knuckles
scratches and knocks.

I lose myself
here without
light, and hope has
not found cracks
in the window.

I go down to
the basement
darker than night.
Here I find
nowhere and me.
