Fasting

"...free yourself of the inner prison box..."

FASTING

It's a peculiar thing when
you free yourself
of the inner prison box
labeled the stomach.

Food has such a pull
with its carbs & fructose
just as much a drug
to keep one addicted.

I eat once a day anymore,
& that's just out of habit
created all these years
with this weight now shedding.

No, I'm not starving myself
as a form of any protest;
there's no grand message
other than I want to live.
