Purple
I hate the color purple,
It was once my favorite.
Now I look at in disgust
Purple ribbons on my bracelet.
I hate the color purple,
Reminds me of the Watson's
A narcotic pain med,
that's followed by cytoxan.
I hate the color purple,
I won't let it define me.
Plaquenil is a preventative
With side effects, I can't see.
I hate the color purple,
But mostly when I'm dizzy.
Looks more blue like my dipstick,
when there's protein from my kidneys.
I hate the color purple,
it represents lupus.
A disease that Makes me feel like an outcast,
Not Moses, but Judas.
I hate the color purple,
betrayal by thyself
You see a beautiful exterior,
Whilst my insides attack itself.
I hate the color purple,
And the rash on my cheeks.
Fatigue remains the unbeatable winner,
Week after week.
I hate the color purple,
It represents my struggle.
A healthy body is a luxury,
My presence feels like trouble.
I hate the color purple,
I'd prefer gold instead.
Because although lupus wins tonight.
Not letting me out my bed.
My message will inspire,
and awareness I'll still spread.
