The Problem of Being a Sperm

Trillions of sperm are ejected each day, on pillows and sheets, into lonely hands, into the jet streams of showers where they are washed down the drain. Each sperm has no chance of fulfilling the one purpose for which it was created -- to impregnate an egg and continue the great cycle of life.

Sperm face an existential crisis much greater than any human. If there was a "Waiting for Godot" featuring sperm in the lead roles, no one would attend -- not humans, not their fellow sperm.
