The Kind of View Most Don't Want To Notice

The dead birch in my backyard
teaches by cultivating silence --
its leaves long departed
like someone who left
without ever saying goodbye,
but its descent slow enough
to fool us into thinking
death is always deliberate,
and withering guaranteed for us all.
