hell and heaven

"...both places invite me, a part of me exists in both places...."

hell and heaven

a carriage with two horses gallops
through the dirt road; the road
splits in two. one horse is
white, the other’s black. one horse wants
to go left, the other to the right.
the carriage’s about to be torn in
two, both beasts too strong and determined
to reach their destination.
I’m the driver, not knowing which beast
to trust. to the left there’s a
refulgent metropolis, tall buildings visible in the
clear horizon.
to the right stands a lowly village, suffocating under the
noisome black air.
both places invite me, a part of me exists
in both places. time to choose, it’s now,
no choice, the carriage’s broken in two, each
horse gallops down the path of their choice.
it’s now I must choose; stealing a peek of both
destinations and I leap on the back of the beast heading
for the place closer to
my heart.
