As Crows Circle

"...hide behind a scarecrow grin among a cornfield of smiles..."

As Crows Circle

Some wear their sadness
like an inside-out shirt.

Others make it into work pants
and hide behind a scarecrow grin
among a cornfield of smiles,

while there are those
who treat sadness as if it is
a Halloween costume
best left in the closet
with bones they don't want
to admit they own.
