Steps in rock
That led up and down
Feet moving along
A pause
A wait
and then feet again.

A gate ahead
That overlooks much
Standing for years
Lording on the hillock
That looks around
To the city that spreads out vast

She sits on a step
Looking wistfully as feet pass by
Waiting for a generous show
Asking each time feet move by

A little further
Another man does the same

Smiles at generosity
