[because we all know whose fault it was]

"...this is one version of the future..."

[because we all know whose fault it was]

you lover wearing
the mask of your enemy
this was the story
this is one version
of the future
a kiss in an empty house
a car crash
stand there stoned in the
glare of the headlights and
think about everything you’ve lost
lie there pinned beneath the
wreckage of your marriage and
wait for the bleeding to stop
wait for your heart to
start beating again
shouldn’t take much longer
than the rest of your life
