I Know How To Spell 'HUNGER!'

"...I have learnt by heart its spelling..."

I Know How To Spell ‘HUNGER!’

I have come to know
What hunger is!

I have learnt by heart
Its spelling

The alphabets come
One after another…

Like incessant waves
Hitting the distant shore…

And I observe from afar
The passing minutes

The unanswered requests,
I implore…
I beg…
I borrow…

Only at the end of the day
‘civilization’
Sets
Across
The
Horizon

And I go to sleep
Dreaming of a new day
A day when all will get
Four square meals
A day that will dawn…
A day that will continue…

In my life and yours…

A day…
A day…
A day…

Author's Note: The word ‘Hunger’ has assumed a special significance in our lives as India finds her place abysmally low in the Hunger Index of the World.
