Waiting by the Pond

John P. Drudge is a social worker working in the field of disability management and holds degrees in social work, rehabilitation services, and psychology. He is the author of four books of poetry.

Waiting by the Pond

At night
The bullfrogs
In my pond
Are very vocal
Eager for something
Slippery
In the cold charcoal mist
Hawing into the bleakness
In a blunt
And pleading way
As I sit
In the icy black
Of the night’s
Forever
Waiting for you
