The Hand

By Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

The Hand

The hand steers the wheel
through back country roads
and highways. It takes you
to old and new places, always.

It writes down directions.
That way you know where to go.
The hand helps stir the drink
before you take a sip, always.

The hand is always there.
It is raised and lowered.
You start the engine with it
and you turn it off.

Why not give it a massage
for sheer comfort?
Give the hand its treat.
Do not let it hang in limbo.
