Each week, the Piker Press staff meets around the virtual water cooler online. We catch up on personal news, take care of Press business needs, poke each other with sharpened pencils -- you know, writerly stuff. On occasion one or the other of us will have seen something on the web that we want to make other people look at. A couple months ago, this article on birds caught our fancy.
The ensuing conversation led us to believe we ought to do an issue devoted to birds. We had a number of reasons for doing this:
- Revenge on ill-mannered birds
- Humor at the expense of birds
- Memories of birds
- Showing respect for birds in the hopes that the birds will stop crapping on our cars
... etcetera. This week is that issue, and we certainly hope you readers enjoy it.
The serial fiction Transitions will not be seen this week, but will resume next week with Chapter 19.
The BIG news is that the Piker Press once again has a space for comments about each article. We'd had to discontinue our comments feature some time ago because we were hit overwhelmingly by pornographic spammers, much to our disgust. Thanks to Josh Brown and Jon Renaut, we now have a space in which you can comment, a method of feedback which we as writers need. Please let us know what you think!
Pornographic spammers need not apply.
The Piker Press moderates all comments.
