Sonnet 3

By Tyler Willson

Sonnet 3

Wake up my children are up before me.
Footsteps in the hallway raise me from sleep.
A child's energy is something so free
A gift, a feeling, a lifetime to keep.
Laughing, loving, living, simply being.
Children are a glimpse of things yet to come.
Teach, try, inspire, clarify our seeing.
Are they blessings? Or obstacles to some?
We go through our day, they teach and I learn.
Am I teacher or pupil? Or neither?
Or just fellow trav'lers taking our turn.
Sharing, living our lives with each other.

Wake up, I'm greeted with laughter and smile.
My children make living my life worthwhile.
