Another Name Covered in Moss

By Richard LeDue

Another Name Covered in Moss

It's easier to believe in god
than to eat a healthy diet,

simpler to point at the clouds
and imagine angels instead of rain,

rather than accept the ground
is its own religion,

promising a darkness illuminating us
just enough, until we're another name

covered in moss on a gravestone
in an overgrown cemetery.
