Pigeons

"...pigeons flee before him as from a bird of prey..."

Pigeons

A child runs about the park
Raising his arms, laughing and cheering
As pigeons flee before him
As from a bird of prey

A teen, uses his words,
To send the bullies
Who wish to harm his small frame
Retreating in fear

An adult, writes horror,
Creating inner fear
To send willing readers
Scurrying in terror
From the dark into light

An old man, returns to the park,
Sitting, fragile, physically worn down
Yet laughing with joy
As he again sends pigeons
Soaring into flight
