Death at 50 km/h

By Richard LeDue

Death at 50 km/h

They drive like they're afraid to die,
slowing down for every bump
and obeying the speed limit
like it's scripture,
while my blood pressure rockets,
heading straight for Mars
with only enough fuel to reach the moon,
and suddenly my alarm clock from 6:45 AM
reminds me of a eulogy,
but I can't decide who it's for.
