Cure of Life

"...moments remain alive only in the mind..."

Cure of Life

moments dissipate before we can even
perceive them; a passionate kiss, a heated night,
hearing “I love you” from the lips you’ve been
dreaming of for months. for an infinitesimal moment
joy floods the body, it warms the heart and knots the stomach.
yet, once the moment’s gone, vanishing into the well of nothingness,
the consequences are what remain; a heated night right before the break up,
the first and last kiss, the “I love you” that was
only told, never shown.
moments remain alive only in the mind, booze and drugs can
erase them temporarily but the torture remains, the poisoned
daggers keep on piercing the heart. there’s no escape from the
pain grandiloquent moments cause, and the warmth of the whiskey
is the only known cure to the grave ailment known as life.
