The Words We Use

"...quick as a dart game with half a pint left..."

The Words We Use

We all carry them with us like papoosed children
Extract them from our chests and let them crawl free.
The only difference is the order or the length
Short ones, quick as a dart game with half a pint left,
Long ones, to perplex,
Speeches, to inspire,
Letters, to inform --
We lay judgement on them all,
Banging the gavel for us to consider
What is genuine and what is not.
