And My Hollow Eyes Closed

"...trying to find their way..."

And My Hollow Eyes Closed

In a room full of empty desks
under harsh fluorescent lights
surrounded by strangers
with hollow eyes
trying to find their way
through the same
minefield as me

Trying to follow my muse
while it taunted me
to pick up a pen
or better yet to just leave
and walk until my legs hurt

Twenty-eight years
until finally my head
dropped to the desk
and my hollow eyes closed
