Digging Up Old Lives

By Bradford Middleton

Digging Up Old Lives

The old words from this life have
Come to visit me tonight telling me
Of wild times, of
Wild heroic drinking and
Insane smoking bouts
and it all seems so long ago.
It’s almost like another lifetime as
Tonight I sit here free of
Booze and the smoke merely wraps
Me in its embrace as these words
Come to propel me down
This page as this strikes me as
Being a whole lot more fun than
Cold drafty pubs with boring
Lame hipsters drinking their £7 pints.
