Layers
It is easier, sometimes, from a distance–
standing at the edge of a long road
to appreciate the beauty
that rises from the days–
to notice intensity as splendor,
and valleys as gateways to magnificence.
It is easier to see progress and possibility,
to trace the layers
that make up a life.
The hard part
is going the distance–
to be able
to look back
and see.
standing at the edge of a long road
to appreciate the beauty
that rises from the days–
to notice intensity as splendor,
and valleys as gateways to magnificence.
It is easier to see progress and possibility,
to trace the layers
that make up a life.
The hard part
is going the distance–
to be able
to look back
and see.
