The Artist's Sacrifice
A true artist creates independently of the human race's existence.
He walks in the exact same joy
as if surrounded by every imaginable honor.
This joy supplements his lines day and night,
even if he were the last person in the cosmos.
Throwing himself ultimately into the fire of creation,
losing himself in the ocean of magnificence he witnesses,
the artist's becoming is an absolute sacrifice.
It is ordained before it begins,
whereby he loses nothing but gains everything.
