Fear of a Round Mirror

"...Is somebody there within the mirror we have inherited?..."

Fear of a Round Mirror

Someone keeps a round mirror on the landing
near the marble staircase of our basement library.

Is somebody there within the mirror we have
inherited? But I do not know the real answer.

Someone tells me the mirror has a yellow
metal lid. That is shut forever.

Every day I think of this mystery, that secret
in absence of light only a grey shadow stay.

Someone says if you go near the mirror
you find a door behind it.

Once I removed all the dust in the mirror but
the glass is blurred as always even after that.

Someone whisper that the mirror can see the
illicit glimpses. I feel those colors are black.

I believe there can be movement in stillness.
the blurred mirror perhaps reflects that.

Someone warns me not to go near the mirror
at the midnight hour during full moon time.

The staircase counts my footstep once I move
forward but I can’t move further as my feet are locked.
