A Starting Point

"...but you give me something painfully real!.."

A Starting Point

Please tell me something---
is it sweet or sour or bitter or salty?

Found in the upper surface of the tongue---
taste receptor cells tell a story.

Just like the heat or coldness up there---
in our sphere of life, in our atmosphere.

I insist, sensitive microscopic hairs send
solely sweet messages to my brain.

I want something sugary for it is ideal---
but you give me something painfully real!

Be it sweet or sour or salty: that is the food of life,
you say I must accept it as it is---that is a starting point.
