Yard Work

"...into a wind across an edge of yard..."

Yard Work

A grand shiver of katydids blossom
into a wind across an edge of yard,
sun lit green and handsome,
the sky full of calories, miscellaneous detail,
a pink thread of mist whispering
across the shallows, across the horizon,
and one perfect walking stick
crosses the palm of my hand.
