Mz Mandelstan

Jane the professor who
looks like a refugee from the
60's, long frizzy hair, hippy garb, granny glasses
late to class
as usual
hugging a thick book,
ready for another class of
"Mandelstan says ..."
I am a little sick of Mandelstan
and what Jane says he says ...
For my end of semester paper I chose a poetess
who writes poems about working-class life
but discover
she never worked a day
she made it all up
I did not know you could do that, or
why anyone would:
maybe I did need more Mandelstan
or else more
cowbell
or
something ...
