the late slip

"...I'm wondering why I bothered..."

the late slip

you're late, she said.

I'm not, I said.

yes, you are! look!
she showed me her watch.
that's your third warning!
you know what that means!

I'm five minutes early,
I told her, pointing at the store clock.
your watch must be broke.
but since you're so desperate
to get rid of me,
I'm wondering why I bothered ...

at which point
she had to give me an informal written warning
for my "attitude"
which just so happened
to take six minutes

so guess what
she did then?
