He says

"...I ask him about the last time he's been anywhere..."

He says

he has kids
and couldn't be happier,
that he loves each one of them
just the same

even the young one
that has frequent hospital visits
for croup

his eyes more blood
than whites

sagging gut sack
over the belt
line

& I ask him
about the last time
he's been
anywhere

& he tells me
about something that happened
in a Walmart parking lot
three weeks ago.
