In My Own Way

"...But if you so enjoy it, it isn't a disorder..."

In My Own Way

The regimentation of your day's subsectors
Is obsessive, compulsive, and disorderly
But if you so enjoy it, it isn't a disorder

If I can learn to enjoy the melancholia
As much as the mania
I won't be bipolar any longer
Just eccentrically inclined

Maybe then I won't feel
the electric shock they call therapy
Maybe then I can climb through
the bars on my windows

But that is exactly why I am behind them
My addiction to escapism
How long I have dedicated
To trying to go nowhere
