In the Theater

"...eyeing his chance, death lurked apart..."

In the Theater

Inside the room, light dazzled clear and bright,
underfoot the polished floor smooth and hard.
Intense beams focused the scene like spotlights.
Each person did their best to play their part.

It was strangely quiet as progress grew.
All worked for a good outcome at the end.
No one wanted to be the culprit whose
misdeed allowed the door to creep open.

Outside, eyeing his chance, death lurked apart.
The smell of blood boosted his will to wait.
After they failed twice to restart the heart,
the door cracked open, he was wide awake.

When on the third try the rhythm kicked in,
the force of their smiles shut the door again.
