Reflections from the Newsreel 11: Inauguration

"...the way it's always been."

Inauguration

The day is fast approaching,
regime change in play.
We watch the king's coronation,
the most unpopular of any day.
This is the man we don't want.
But he is what we deserve.
Fear and racism are his tools,
the ignorant clutch his cloven feet.
He is a bully, racist, misogynist,
a ruler who demonizes.
He is what America has hidden,
no longer need to disguise.
Inside the heart of this nation,
is a maggot-eaten apple.
We all take bite of this bitter fruit,
unmask our hate for all to see.
As the parade marches in step
to the playing of the band,
I realize this is America,
the way it's always been.
