Strange Planet

"...rivers painfully streaking through the vales..."

Strange Planet

It seems a map of an abandoned land
rivers painfully streaking through the vales
peaks surging to unattainable heavens
and ice shattering with thunderous groans.

Streams swim to unseen horizons
under menacing darkness
they take pieces of a world with them
to bury it in a shroud of dead memories.

It is a giantess as the poet once imagined
her flesh offered to the elements of eternity
bruised under the fire of passing hours
she sighs under the last breath of her hopes.

Blood flows blue in the pain of generations
with the pulse of so many abandoned lives
it seeks freedom through deep gorges of an earth
while the ground quakes to swallow its prey.
