Longing

"...it imagines a last kiss..."

Longing

Thrown away cigarette butt
looks back at the warmth of the
lips that burned in its longing.

Tarnished fingers' cold trajectory --
unceremonious in parting.

Embers dying slow death
it imagines a last kiss, whiff of
thinning smoke echoing the urge.

Wind blown ashes carry unfinished love stories.
Remember, when you dust your heart.
