Born in Cuba, Matias Travieso-Diaz migrated to the United States as a young man. He became an engineer and lawyer and practiced for nearly fifty years. After retirement, he took up creative writing. Matt Grimes grew up in the New York/New Jersey area and now teaches middle school English in suburban Maryland just outside of D.C. He played baseball in college and loves the Yankees. Outside of teaching and trying to write, he spends a lot of time with his dog, reading too much Hemingway or Steinbeck, and wasting money playing terrible golf.
